How To Look After Your Hair Without Salon Visits
Everybody loves their hair and they need to keep it in tip-top condition for it to look good. The heated brushes and straighteners do put stress on our hair as well as dry it out. But you do not need to go to the salon for expensive treatments. You can buy some decent treatments from your local drug store that work just as well. You can also help yourself with looking after your body. We wanted to share some tips with you today.

Eat And Drink Well
The best thing you can do for your hair is to think about what is going into your body. A well-balanced diet means that your body gets all of the vitamins and nutrients that it needs. Then those nutrients go into your hair and nails. This is how it looks shiny and gets stronger. Your hair is made up of 25% water so don’t forget to keep giving it a drink! Eight glasses of water a day is a good start.
Cut Down Heated Treatments
If you can, let your hair dry naturally after you have washed it. It is so much better for it because a hairdryer will dry it out. We use heated appliances so much on our hair, and it causes breakage, split ends and our hair becomes brittle. Use a towel to absorb most of the water from your hair, and just leave it to dry.
Careful With Wet Hair
When your hair is wet, make sure you use a wide-toothed comb to brush it. Wet hair is more fragile and if you have knots in there. So dragging the wrong comb or brush through your hair rip break it. If your wet hair has knots in it, use a detangling spray before you brush it out.
Cut Away Split Ends
Regular hair cuts will help to keep your hair in a good condition. You can do this at home if you feel confident enough. Take sections of your hair and twist it downwards. The split ends start to stick out, and you can see them enough to cut. Take a pair of small scissors and snip at the split ends. This cuts the damaged cuticles but doesn’t cut the length of your hair. It won’t be perfect but it will do until you can get to a salon.
Losing Hair
Hair loss is hereditary, but it is also caused by stress. You can slow down hair loss by adding biotin to your hair. You can buy shampoo with biotin in it, but you can also add it to your diet. Make a smoothie following the little recipe below. Also, make sure you are getting enough vitamin b6 and zinc. Try cutting out stress and getting a good night sleep too.
Take all of these ingredients, and blend them together. Then drink it daily for breakfast or a mid-morning drink.
- Bananas
- Spoonful of Honey
- Yoghurt
- Low fat milk
Use Proper Hair Bands
If you use rubber bands in your hair, it will rip your hair out. Scrunchies are great and safer for your hair, but not always ideal. As long as you don’t use rubber bands or bands with a metal attachment, it will be so much kinder for your hair.
