How you can create a capsule wardrobe

We can all get a little disheartened with our wardrobes. It doesn’t matter whether it is a change of season, unexpected warm or cold weather, or even just a change in your body shape, it can often leave us feeling unconfident. Getting the right mix of clothing to suit you, your body shape, and your style is key. Especially if you want to feel better within yourself. So how can you get it just right? The answer is a capsule wardrobe. I thought I would share with you some of the ways you could create yours, enabling you to transition from winter to spring fashions seamlessly.

Layering is key

As we just mentioned the weather can be a hard one to predict, so your capsule wardrobe should be all about the layers. Enabling you to piece outfits together for the coldest and warmest of days thanks to adding different layers of cover-ups to your overall outfit. Think about coats and jackets, cardigans and jumpers as well as shirts and t-shirts. It would be easier to piece an outfit together no matter what the day throws at you.

What do you wear on the bottom half?

Bottom halves are tricky in this transitional period. You want to embrace the spring, but yet feel like it may still be too cold to do it. This is when purchases of things like boyfriend jeans, cropped trousers, and maxi skirts would be ideal. They can be dressed up or down, help you to feel cool on warmer days but can easily be dressed comfortably, and keep you warm for the colder days that may still be ahead.

Investment pieces

A capsule wardrobe still needs you to have your investment pieces. The timeless classics never go out of fashion. The smart and tailored coat, the white shirt, and the perfect pair of jeans. These are your investment and statement pieces, and the outfit that you could pull out time and time again when it comes to dressing in the transitional period.

Mix and match

You may want to think about mixing and matching your textures, materials, colours, and patterns when it comes to your capsule wardrobe. The more diverse it is, the better you can create a great outfit. Don’t be afraid to mix and match them on the same outfit, be bold and experimental with the transitional period. This is because the layering aspects give you the chance to be more adventurous with colour and texture.

Accessories

Finally, your accessories can really make your outfit and because it is a transition from winter to spring, you may want to think about hats, sunglasses, statement jewellery and even lighter scarves and cover-ups. Don’t forget the shoes when it comes to thinking about your accessories. Now is the time to maybe come away from the big knee-high boots and embrace the ankle boot or the flats, to give your outfit a spring vibe.

I hope that these tips help you to create your perfect capsule wardrobe.
